Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
How do you keep from being anxious when your family was just in an accident and someone is on a ventilator now?
What about when your only son just joined a gang?
What about when the house payment is due and you lost your job 3 weeks ago?
What about when your teenage daughter is pregnant?
We can be calm during chaos. It is beyond our understanding how this happens, but the Bible promises it is true. We can believe it because the Word also says:
* Isaiah 55:11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it (NASB).
*Also, Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear (NLT).
In other words, it doesn’t mean that everything is going to magically change and become all better. What it does mean is (Hebrew 13:5 NLT) For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
Psalm 34:17-19 (NLT) The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
2 Corinthians 12:9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. NLT
Philippians 4:19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. NLT
Matthew 24:13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. NLT
Isaiah 43:18 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. NIV
Hebrews 13:14 For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come. NLT
Revelation 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. NLT
Revelation 21:4-5 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” NLT
John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. NLT
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope “NLT
I know it seems impossible sometimes to do the impossible. Somethings are a set up for anxiety. Remember Peter when he walked on water (Matthew 14: 28-30)? That would sure make me anxious. But Peter was fine as long as he kept his eye on the Lord. It is only when he looked at the situation and circumstances as they currently were that he began to sink.
There is a lesson here for us in that.
If we keep our eyes on the Lord,
if we stay in the here and now,
if we focus on the good and what is to come…
God will be with us as we get through the times of anxiety. We have to keep that in mind and hold onto it- no matter what.
Until Next Time~
