Life and all its pressures keep many people tense and stressed out. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Isaiah 26:3: You will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Do you believe this? (OR Is the Bible just a book of nice/ wise sayings?)
It has only been in the last few years that I can relate to this verse in Isaiah. But in order to access the peace he speaks of you have to reverse the sentence:
- Fix your thoughts on God
- (come to) trust in God
- (and then) be kept in perfect peace.
As you read over and over about God’s love, God’s repeated forgiveness, God’s protection, God’s good desires and provisions for your life, it will sink in, transforming your thinking. You will release your fears when you read (over 360x) God say “do not fear.” You will begin to believe Him when He says “I will never leave you.”
With these insights, you condition your heart to remain calm during turbulent times. It takes trust and faith.
A person cannot be skeptical, always saying: “prove it to me!” That statement comes from a place of doubt.
James 1:6–8 “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.”
Instead stand firm in faith:”Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24.
Quit asking for peace. Walk in the belief peace has been given to you:
Colossians 3:15 “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.”
1 Peter 3:11b “they must seek peace and pursue it”
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares about you”
Philippians 4:7 “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand . His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
“As we live in Christ Jesus“- that is the key. You cannot be living in willful sin, stirring up chaos in your life, and even remotely think about exeriencing peace. But if the world is chaotic around you- you can have peace.
Take control of your emotions:
Dwell on what is honorable, right, pure, lovely, admireable and true in the Word of God, and in this world.
The more you dwell on what is actually good and going well & the more you are grateul for such things…the more peaceful and pleasant you will feel. It is truly impossible to immerse yourself in happy thoughts and stay miserable at the same moment.
The peace of God is readily available to us. It is promised to us. It is ours for the taking. It is yours for experiencing.
Do not remain in stress. Grasp, hang on to, and enjoy the peace that heaven offers. The Holy Spirit is with you to make it happen in your life. So be it.
Until Next Time-
