As Christians: The most important thing we can do with our time during covid 19

Today I came across this verse and thought it was beautiful. I believe it is speaking to each one of us. This is the verse as I found it without a reference to which version it came from:

Isaiah 50:4
The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word. Morning by morning he wakens my ear to listen as those who are taught.

So I looked it up for a few more interpretations to add spice and flavor:

GNT The Sovereign Lord has taught me what to say, so that I can strengthen the weary. Every morning he makes me eager to hear what he is going to teach me.

ERV The Lord God gave me the ability to teach, so now I teach these sad people. Every morning he wakes me and teaches me like a student.

TLB The Lord God has given me his words of wisdom so that I may know what I should say to all these weary ones. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will.

TPT The Lord Yahweh has equipped me with the anointed, skillful tongue of a teacher— to know how to speak a timely word to the weary. Morning by morning, he awakens my heart. He opens my ears to hear his voice, to be trained to teach.

Each one of us lives our lives in the spotlight of others as a Christian. It is important how we handle the stressors of covid19. We ourselves need to display the peace that surpasses all understanding, based on the fact that GOD is in control. Let me say that again: God is in control. Seriously. He is, because we have surrendered our lives to him through Jesus Christ.

Not everyone is surrendered so not everyone has a living protective God to watch over them and to work all things for their good. Make no mistake, where God has not been invited in, he does not reign nor have obligation. We can pray for others as intercessors, and we are obliged to pray unceasingly according to God’s will. We have to remember, God’s miracles, protection, healing, sustaining power are always played out for one purpose : to give testimony and glory to God the Father.

We have a hope that others are craving and seeking right now. Who are we to hide it under a bushel? No one lights a lamp and hides it under a basket. No, it is set on a stand to give light to all those around.

What we have sustaining us right now, what we have filling us with joy, what we have that gives us hope in tomorrow, is our salvation through Jesus Christ. That opens the doors to our eternal hope and glory in the presence of our maker. That opens the doors to all the teachings in the Bible that promise God will never leave us, that God’s mighty right hand is protecting us, that all things will work together for A good somehow, someway, even though it may make no sense to us in the mean time.

We have been given so very much to be grateful for right now. We have been blessed to live in this era of technology to keep us in touch, something they didn’t have during the Spanish flu. So let us seek God on how we can use this same technology to get out the message of salvation.

You may say “Kate, I am using technology to lift up, reach out to, and encourage my brothers and sisters in the Lord…especially those that are isolated” Yes, that is doing a portion of what you are called to do.

We are looking at the possibility of 240k deaths in this country alone. That is 240,000 people that will soon stand before the Lord. We do not know which people it will be. But we hold the security of their eternal life in our hands.

We do because we know the way the story ends.

I know some of you are going to predict and be relieved when I say- of course you can’t go witnessing door to door. PHYSICAL DISTANCING IS THE MANDATE. Yes! But that is only physical.

We are not socially isolated. We have phones and tablets and computers. We have zoom to reach out. We have emails for long connections to people without zoom. We have blogs. And most of us have Facebook .

This is no time to put a basket over your light. We are called to be a city set on a hill. We are called to shine light into the darkness. More than feeling bad that we can’t financially or physically do something to help others, We should ache to reach those who are perishing daily ( figuratively and literally) within our sphere of influence.

Perhaps you don’t see yourself as an evangelist. Remember the Holy Spirit does the work. Some sow seed, some water, some tend, some harvest. We just do that which we are called to on a daily basis.

Morning by morning, if we are willing, God will give us a word for the sad and the weary during this crisis. Each word will be unique. Each delivery made will be unique. God is asking us to be willing to play a key role in the salvation of others.

Let us pray:

Father God we lift our hearts to you. You have given us a gift meant for all the world. In this time of uncertainty, take away our fears and insecurities about sharing the good news. Help open our hearts to hear from you what that looks like in our personal lives. We have the motivation=240,000 lives at risk. Now we ask that you give us the willingness, and the follow thru to do your will and reach the lost in our sphere of influence. Amen

Until Next Time~

Blessings Kate
