Keep Calm: God’s Got This

Pray and get some rest; God is handling what you are wrestling with…

Why do we think constant attention to a subject is going to bring us an answer quicker. The truth, for most people, is while they believe they do their best thinking under pressure– we, as Christians, cannot hear from Holy Spirit when we are stressed out, immersed with many details and options. Worse yet is wondering what to do to make things better when many details are unknown. We cannot force knowledge.

We, in America especially, live in an instant gratification society. We want what we want and we want it now. We even want answers, miracles, and breakthroughs immediately. We have become a culture that lacks patience, endurance, trust/ faith and long suffering. These are the fruits of the Spirit working in us. In order for the Spirit to work in us we must be surrendered. Surrender and in-control are not synonyms. They are opposites.

How do we surrender when anxiety is high or we are angry or depressed?

Start with a prayer to Jesus our Savior. Confess what is on your soul. Confess your concerns, your hopes, your fears, and your desired outcome. Then confess that you, honestly, do not know the best outcome according to God’s plan. Then give the whole thing to Him.

Next get your mind on something else. This shows God that you have truly left it in His hands. If redirecting your thoughts is not working…if you can, listen to someone else’s story, read or watch a video, start a project, clean something, pay your bills. If all else fails take a nap or go to bed early. Anything to shut your mind down off your cares and concerns.

Know that God has heard you.

Remember God wants the best for you.

Trust and have faith.

Call upon the peace which surpasses all understanding.

Keep Calm: God’s got this!

Until Next Time~
Blessings, Kate
