Stay Calm

What is your first response when life throws you a curve ball?

Exodus 14:14  New Living Translation
“The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”

Psalm 46: 1,10
New Living Translation 1”God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”  10 “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”

What is your first response when life throws you a curve ball?

Do you panic? Get depressed? Stress out? Call friend(s) and “vent”(- a lot)? Take up your Spiritual armor and tool kit and go to war decreeing and declaring a positive outcome in Jesus name?  Or is your first response prayer in dependence and security of God’s faithfulness?

Each of us has habitual reactions that are knee jerk. We have practiced them so long, by default, that sometimes we forget other choices.

It may seem difficult to “do nothing”, but prayer and faith are NOT “nothing”!

We live in a society where we take control. We “do”; we “act”. When we don’t—we feel powerless and inept. We get overwhelmed. Bottom line is we do not trust.

Trust in God comes over time. If we were raised in a family with someone that totally depended on God then trusting God in all situations comes easier. But for many of us we need to work on it.

We do not need to make great declarations that “from here on out….” In fact, we may surrender an issue to God and then have to keep surrendering the situation, and our response, over and over throughout the day (s) ahead.  THAT   IS   OKAY!

Today I want to encourage all of us–
Right where we are, in any difficult situation, turn it over to God and have peace that He will guide us along the way. If we are to act HE will let us know how and when. Let us give time for God to arrange people, places, and situations. (We never have all the details.)

In the meantime, we also ask God to help us manage our emotions. “God, grant me the ability to know and experience you joy and peace that you promise is ours. Take away my difficulties that victory over them would witness to others your strength, love, and security.”

Until Next Time~
Blessings, Kate
