Are you too messed up to stand before God?

When we are kids and in pain we want our parents. Some of us have parents still alive when we are middle age- and that is a true blessing.  Yet, and still, we all need the spiritual presence of the parental love God gives. We do not deserve it…none of us do. BUT it is available to all of us believers in Jesus.

There are times when we feel like we are too bad and messed up that we cannot go before God and talk with Him.

Here is the truth…we have all sinned. One sin is not greater than another in God’s eyes. I mean look at David, a man that God said “he is a man after my own heart”. And remember David ordered a man be killed just so he could cover up his own adultery with that man’s wife.Yet, in spite of this, he was revered by God.

It is us humans that categorize sin as if on different levels. Not God.

Ephesians 1:6 New Living Translation
6 So we praise God for the glorious grace (favor that we do not deserve) he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.

Hebrews 4:16 International Children’s Bible
16 Let us, then, feel free to come before God’s throne. Here there is grace ( favor that we do not deserve). And we can receive mercy and grace (favor that we do not deserve) to help us when we need it.

Mercy: Millard Erickson wrote in Christian Theology, “God’s mercy is His tenderhearted, loving compassion for His people. It is His tenderness of heart toward the needy.

There are Christians that say if we continue in our sin, after we have been forgiven, then we are cut off from God. IF this were so– how would we be able to break the chains of sin that keep us in bondage. We need help from the Holy Spirit and God’s grace to help us break free from the enemy’s grip on us that keeps us spinning down the wrong path.

God sent us Jesus – our advocate to stand there before God and plead our case– no matter what it is– no matter how often we mess up. We are still welcome to come to God and ask for forgiveness and help in our daily lives.

Feelings are fickle. They can trick us. Sometimes they are accurate, sometimes they are delusional, and sometimes they can be instigated by the thoughts the enemy places in our minds. We can not rely on our feelings to tell us the truth all the time. It is not only those that feel God’s love that can approach Him… it is ALL His children.

The third verse of the hymn :It is Well With My Soul” is this:

My sin, oh the bliss of this glorious thought
My sin, not in part, but the whole
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Lauren Daigle  sings it well by asking : “how can it be?”

Did you notice– the grace is reaching out for us!

SO let me answer that question for you—
You are not too messed up to go before the throne of grace. None of us deserve this ability. We just get to receive the Father’s love and be His child crying out when in pain.

Until Next Time~
Blessings, Kate
