Are You Blocking God’s Grace?

This past weekend I went on a retreat called “The Walk To Emmaus”.

It is not a physical walk, but rather a spiritual walk with Christ as a believer. It was a wonderful time with 30 or so other pilgrims ladies. We were shown love 24 hours a day through insightful talks, volunteers serving us, amusing entertainment at a banquet and all kinds of goodies streaming in 18 hours a day.

My A-HA moment was the realization that I am still blocking Christ’s grace.

I am doing this by:

  • Walling off my emotions
  • Keeping others at a distance so they do not get too close
  • Controlling my time so rigidly I can’t be lead into new opportunities by God
  • Limiting the ways and extent to which God can and might use me

I was also given a glimpse of how each of these is affecting my life. And I do not want it to be this way anymore.

I pledge to consciously STOP IT NOW when I start to do these things. Because I want a better or fulfilling life.

Are you blocking Christ’s grace?
Think about it and share your thoughts below.

Until Next Time~
Blessings, Kate

  1. I was on Walk 110 in the Texas Hill Country. I was most pleased to find the focus entirely on Jesus the Christ, Our master, our Groom. It still impacts my thinking regarding our job to be the Bride, and that as the Bride we do not “wear the pants in the family” as some folks practice even openly in our congregations both in the Church and in their personal households.

I challenge all to read Solomon’s “Perfect wife”. It sharpens a rereading of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians.
Peace of God to all who are His children, with whom the Father is well pleased.

    2. I love that picture– we don’t wear the pants in our relationship with God

  2. Yikes!!! This spoke to me very deeply Kate! Especially that third bullet!! I’m very good at letting people feel they are close to me when in reality they don’t know more than those of you who read my blog. I keep my innermost thoughts between God and me because I’ve learned that most people really can’t be happy for you if they aren’t happy themselves. But as a Christian, this can be a detrimental practice, so the first two bullets also hit deeply. But that third one – I stay scheduled about two months out… it’s not good. Thank you for this reminder.

It sounds like a beautiful experience. I’m thankful you were able to go and receive this insight!

    1. Thank you for sharing Shell! I feel not alone now 🙂

      1. Isn’t that the beautiful part of blogging? When we get vulnerable and share where we are growing and hurting, we find out others are rowing along with us!

      2. soo true. I (mostly) love the blogging world as I know it in my small world

  3. I relate to this very well. Sometimes I feel the same way too, that grace is far from me. Am in the process of having my walk this week with Christ alone. Another great precise piece.. thanks sis

  4. I pray that your walk will be saturated in God’s love and affirmation
