How do you prove your faith?

I read a post tonight that asked the question: what are you doing to prove your faith to God?  Well I have an answer to that and it goes back to my post: Tonight’s Bible verse is about my “thorn”  2 Corinthians 12: 7- 10.

You see I also watched a Transformation Church sermon on Saving Faith. In it, Michael Todd lays out the process and things we go through. I got a word about my son when he was still in my womb. And I worry since it hasn’t come to pass and it looks in the natural that it might not. There are some more steps in the process but I am going to jump right to worship.

Praising God and worshiping His holiness is an act of faith that– I will honor Him even when it doesn’t seem there is a way. Sometimes we are called to wait. I can do that. And if I keep my eyes and mind focused on God Almighty, keep faith in what He said…not in what I see, then I will have peace and joy. That is Faith.

Therefore, I am going to prove my faith by praising and honoring God- right now, when the results are yet to come.

    Interesting post Kate but I think the beginning premise is flawed. The thought of trying to prove one’s faith to God is wholly antithetical to what faith is all about. Faith is, at its very heart just a yielding to Jesus. By its very nature it is the act of being; fully surrendering to God in spirit and body. There is no ‘work’ involved just following God in obedience. When we try to ‘prove’ our faith in God we are falling into ‘self’ and dead works. We cannot prove to God our faith by any action on our part. What Jesus is looking for is us to let go of what we think we need to do, no matter how noble, and just let Him draw us close to Himself. Not that I would ever say that praise and worship of our Beloved is wrong but if we do so under the delusion that we can somehow prove to God our faith then we are wrong. We can never prove our faith to Jesus; He knows us too well. It is only when we let all of the works go and wait for His voice and lead will we find the peace He brings.

    Having walked the hard roads of faith Kate we assure you there is nothing we can do, including praise and worship, that will prove to God anything. Nor do we need to prove to Him anything. He is not looking for such proof, only a response of love. No works, no matter how auspicious, can draw us closer to our Creator than just accepting His love and surrendering to His will. This we know by experience. At this season know that you are deeply loved and that He is watching over you and your son. There is no pit so deep His love cannot go deeper still. We have been in those depths and can testify so. Trust Jesus Kate. He will fulfill His promise even if you, as a limited human being, cannot see a way possible. God is not like you or I Kate. When He gives His word it always comes to pass. Trust Him!
